No more fossil fuels! We have also already set the course for a sustainable future in the energy sector.
When it comes to power generation, we rely entirely on renewable energy from Vorarlberg. The electricity consumption of the Golm tourist resort is also monitored by an efficient energy management system - to ensure that no energy is wasted. And we have also set new standards in the field of photovoltaics: with the world's first solar-powered cable car.
Green electricity from sustainable energies
Guaranteed 100 percent green electricity: At Golm, we obtain all of our electricity from renewable energy sources. Specifically: from hydroelectric power plants and photovoltaic systems. As a result, we not only support small green electricity producers in the region, but are also less dependent on fossil fuels. And this in turn significantly reduces our company's CO2e emissions.

The result: a win-win situation - for our environment and also for you. Because our measures turn your excursion into an environmentally friendly and sustainable experience.
In addition, by committing to green electricity from the region, we are also making a significant contribution to Vorarlberg's energy autonomy - a future goal that we are only too happy to support.

vkw energy cockpit: sustainable energy management
In order to keep electricity consumption as low as possible, we rely on the vkw energy cockpit at Golm. This digital system is used to reliably monitor the entire energy consumption of the tourism industry - from the lifts and restaurants to snowmaking and slope grooming.
The advantage: the data is recorded every 15 minutes. This means that if consumption in one segment is noticeably high, it is possible to react immediately and take countermeasures. This not only saves money and energy, but also significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
Incidentally, the vkw energy cockpit serves as the basis for the ISO 50001 certification of our tourism location - a visible sign of our commitment to the environment.
Hüttenkopfbahn: solar energy makes it possible

Skiing with the power of the sun: as the world's first photovoltaic chairlift, the Hüttenkopfbahn has set an international benchmark in the field of sustainable skiing.
A total of 60,000 kilowatt hours are generated by the solar modules installed at the valley and mountain stations. This is roughly equivalent to the energy requirements of 15 detached houses. A third of the energy consumption of the 6-seater chairlift can therefore be covered by the power of the sun. This also means that one in three ski guests will be skiing on the Golm adventure mountain with the power of the sun and sustainably.

And what happens if the sun doesn't shine? Quite simply: the train continues to run reliably. This is because the electricity generated by the photovoltaic systems when the sun is shining is fed into the power grid. On cloudy days, the drive then collects this electricity from the grid.
The mountain and valley stations are also visually impressive. The special feature: Instead of the conventional, flat solar cells, the curved modules fit perfectly into the design of the lift system.

Sustainable energy for our piste fleet
In addition to electricity from renewable energies, we have been using HVO diesel (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) for our snow groomers and snowmobiles at Golm since the 2024/25 winter season. This synthetic diesel is made from vegetable oils and waste materials and reduces our greenhouse gas emissions by 75 % . This saves around 290 tCO2 e annually - an amount that 110 spruce trees would absorb in 100 years. The cleaner combustion also ensures better air quality in the ski resort.
Since the 2016/17 winter season, we have reduced our emissions from over 1,000 t CO2 e to just 126 t CO2e per year.
As of the 2024/25 winter season, our entire energy requirement comes from 100% renewable energy.
